Mrs. Sarah Casavechia
Principal
Sarah Casavechia begins her twenty-third year at Saint Andrew. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. …
Sarah later earned her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. She taught at Our Lady of Lourdes and Saint Andrew in primary and intermediate grades for twelve years, and served as the assistant principal from 2009-2022, before becoming the principal of Saint Andrew School in 2022.
Mrs. Casavechia enjoys traveling with her husband, Rick, and their two children, both graduates of Saint Andrew.

Ms. Shanna Eley
Assistant Principal
Shanna Eley has been at Saint Andrew for twenty years. She was born and raised in Georgia, and she received her Bachelors Degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Georgia.…
She moved to Chicago in 2003 and received her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from DePaul University.
After spending fifteen years teaching middle school classes at Saint Andrew, Shanna became the assistant principal in 2022.
Ms. Eley loves to spend time with her husband and her two amazing children who make her laugh. They are both Saint Andrew students. She is an avid reader and college football fan. Go Bulldogs!

After several years in the business world and having children of her own, she went back to school and received a Master's in Education at DePaul University. She grew up in Cleveland but has lived in Chicago for more than half her life. She and her husband live nearby with their three children and two dogs. She loves being part of the close-knit Saint Andrew community.
Mrs. Gallagher is one of our Early Childhood teachers. This is her seventh year working with our four-year-old students.
Mrs. Jeanine Pelican

Jeanine Pelican has spent six years subbing and teaching in our Early Childhood program. She has a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University and a Masters in Early Childhood Special Education from Northeastern University.…
She has previously taught for two years at Northside Catholic Academy and eleven years teaching Head Start in Chicago Public Schools.
Mrs. Pelican and her husband have one daughter, a sophomore at DePaul College Prep (and a Saint Andrew alum). In her spare time, she enjoys Pilates, walking, going on vacation, and spending time with family and their dog.
Mrs. Pelican is one of the Early Childhood teachers who works with our four-year-old students.

Mrs. Kathy Pucci

Mrs. Pucci and her husband, Tony, enjoy going to car shows, driving in their 69 Camaro, and hanging out with their grandson, Joey. She also enjoys going to Las Vegas to people-watch.

She graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in psychology and received her professional teaching license from Northeastern University. She likes to read, cook, golf, ski, travel, and hang out with her two daughters, Maddy and Emmy.
Ms. Simone is one of the Early Childhood teachers and works with our three-year-old students and moderates Book Club.

Mrs. Ewelina Filipek

Ms. Filipek enjoys music, books, movies, fashion, Pilates and any outdoor activity. She also loves spending time with her niece and nephew. A fun fact about Ms. Filipek is she can wiggle her ears.

Primary Education

Ms. Emma Kate Brown
Kindergarten Teacher
Emma Kate is entering her first year at Saint Andrew.
Prior to joining Saint Andrew, Ms. Brown taught 6th grade English for two years at Russell Middle School in Omaha, NE as well as co-directing their award-winning show choirs. Once moving to Chicago, she substitute taught around the area for a wide range of grades, including Saint Andrew where she substitute taught in October 2025 and long-term subbed in JK in the spring of 2026.
Ms. Brown attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and earned her B.A. in English, her B.A. in Theatre Arts, and her Secondary Endorsement in both areas.
Ms. Brown is one of our Kindergarten teachers.

Mrs. Rosalba Martinez

Mrs. Martinez and her husband have three adult children and a cat, Loki. She lives in Wrigleyville and is a lifelong Cubs fan. Go Cubs! She enjoys being with family, listening to music, and dancing. She also loves pandas.

Mrs. Carlyn McGreal
First Grade Teacher
Carlyn McGreal begins her ninth year at Saint Andrew. She left her native Colorado to attend Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she earned he B.A. in English.…
After graduation, she moved to Chicago and worked in the corporate world for many years before returning to school to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. She earned her Masters of Arts in Teaching from DePaul University, and taught Pre-K and 2nd grade before leaving the classroom to raise her family.
Mrs. McGreal enjoys reading, cooking, exploring Chicago restaurants, going to concerts, and watching sports with her family. Growing up in Telluride, she's been skiing since she was three and still loves to get back to Colorado to ski. Mrs. McGreal and her husband, Mike, have two sons, both of whom attend Saint Andrew.

Mrs. Corral is married with three beautiful children and two furry babies. She loves all dogs - big or small. This summer, she played pickleball, staying active and exercising.

Ms. Kate Murray

On the weekends, Ms. Murray loves to be with her friends, play pickleball, needlepoint, and spend time on the water.

Mrs. Scaletta is married to her high school sweetheart and has two cats, Posty and Piper. She enjoys road-tripping to neighboring states, taking on remodeling DIYs, and attending concerts! Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, she is a very proud White Sox fan, even during their rebuilding phase.
Mrs. Scaletta is one of our second grade teachers, co-director of Puppy Players, and co-moderator of Yearbook Club.

Mrs. Alma Calderon

When not in the classroom, Mrs. Calderon spends time with her husband, two boys (one is a Saint Andrew student), and their German Shepherd named Batman. Photography is her biggest passion — she's even been paid to photograph school events at Smyser Elementary, capturing everything from assemblies to special celebrations. She also enjoy going to the gym and dancing whenever she gets the chance.

Mrs. McGuire and her husband, Mark, have a dog, Tipperary, who is a therapy dog at Loyola Academy. She loves to hike and run and loves sharing her knowledge of national parks and the Iditarod with her students. A fun fact about Mrs. McGuire is her mother and grandfather both graduated from Saint Andrew. Her grandparents were also the first couple married in the chapel!
Mrs. McGuire is one of the fourth grade teachers and runs the Saint Andrew Irish Dance Club.

Ms. Maggie Nation

Ms. Nation comes from a family of five including two younger sisters. She also has a dog named Finn and a cat named Honey. She loves to play guitar and piano, paint, and travel. She has also visited seventeen countries!

Ms. Kayla St. James

Ms. St. James lives with her husband, Chris, and when she is not teaching, she loves to travel! She has visited over twenty countries. Her hobbies include sewing and making her own clothes, acrylic painting, hand-thrown pottery, and cooking.

Mrs. Loomos loves musicals, the Cubs, reading, Zumba, and spending time with her husband, Bill, and their two children, Chase (a 2020 Saint Andrew graduate and current sophomore at Lewis University) and Cate (a 2025 Saint Andrew graduate and current freshman at Resurrection College Prep). She also loves to share stories with her students about their dog, Oliver.

Before coming to Saint Andrew, Ms. Mischa raised her three young daughters. The twins are now in 8th and her oldest daughter is a senior in high school. Ms. Mischa enjoys yoga, snowboarding, hiking, and going to soccer matches. You just might bump into her at any one of the amazing Chicago area art galleries and museums.
Ms. Mischa is the school art teacher.

Ms. Laura Strickland

She received her Masters in Counseling from Concordia University. She has been teaching for twenty-eight years. Her first teaching opportunity was at St. Norberts School in Northbrook, where she was also the Athletic Director for seven years. She then went into the public sector at Northlake Middle School where she taught Physical Education, Social Studies and Language Arts.
Mr. and Mrs. Breslin have two cats, Kosmo and Smitty. She loves to work on Do It Yourself projects, read, and watch Hallmark movies. Mrs. Breslin loves Snoopy and makes the best spanakopita.

Ms. Gemma Duch Artola

She studied French but would have to brush up on it to be able to hold a conversation.
When Ms. Gemma is not teaching, she likes to play with her daughter. She enjoys hiking, talking with friends, working on puzzles, board games and logic puzzles. She also relaxes by coloring and practicing yoga. And she really enjoy visiting her family in Spain. She lives with her husband, Raul and her daughter, Laia.
Ms. Gemma is the Spanish teacher for our Early Childhood students.

Mrs. Sonia DiMarino
Spanish Teacher
Sonia DiMarino has been at Saint Andrew for nine years. She attended Universidad de Buenos Aires and received her UBA, Universidad Barceló and received her FB, and Universidad Católica Argentina and received her UCA.…
Before coming to Saint Andrew, she has been a Profesora at Instituto Cervantes and and Profesora Ayundante at Universidad de Buenos Aires.
Mrs. DiMarino enjoys spending time with her husband, her daughter, and Luli. She also enjoys cooking walking Luli, traveling, and learning as many languages as she can. She loves history and visiting places where things happened, especially the Renaissance Period. Last summer, Mrs. D was a presenter at a conference at Harvard University. She created a program called Medical Spanish and was thrilled to present.
Currently, she collaborates with "Instituto Cervantes" teaching Spanish as a second language.
Mrs. DiMarino is our Spanish teacher for first through eighth grade. She also offers Spanish Support for students who need a little bit of extra guidance and Spanish Advance for students who want to progress.

Mrs. Maribeth Lynch
Instructional Coach
Maribeth Lynch is starting her twenty-first year of teaching at Saint Andrew School. She taught Preschool for ten years and Language Arts in grades 3-6 for six years.…
She is a graduate of Indiana University and received her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois, Chicago campus. She completed a year of Leadership training at the Archdiocese of Chicago and attended the Kellogg School of Business Management Leadership Training for Educators. She completed graduate coursework at Loyola University in December 2020 and received a certificate in Instructional Coaching.
Mrs. Lynch and her husband raised four sons and live in Lakeview. Her sons are all graduates of Saint Andrew School. When Mrs. Lynch is not teaching she enjoys planning family vacations, gardening, and exploring new areas of the city. A fun fact about Mrs. Lynch is taught in Southampton, England.
Mrs. Lynch is our instructional coach and one of our third grade math teachers.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from DePaul University with endorsements in Language Arts and Social Sciences in Grades 5-8 and her Master’s degree in Differentiated Instruction from Concordia University. Mrs. Roberts enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, and three children, Claire (28), Maddie (26) and Quinn (18) - all former Saint Andrew students. She also enjoys spending time with their dog, Dublin.
Mrs. Roberts loves to read and take her dog, Dublin, on long walks in the city. She played volleyball at DePaul University and is one of the 7th grade girls' volleyball coaches.
Mrs. Roberts is the Curriculum/Enrichment Coordinator and one of the sixth grade Language Arts teachers.

She has two grown children: a daughter, Alexsandra, and a son, Ian. She also has two cats, Sherlock and Watson, and a dog, Luna. She enjoys camping and hiking. Fun fact - she lived in Alaska for a couple of years.

Cassandra Witt

Mrs.Japsen is a native of Dubuque, Iowa and has lived on the Northside of Chicago for thirty years. She is married to Bruce and they are the parents of Lucy, a 2015 graduate of Saint Andrew School.

Her daughters have all worked at Saint Andrew in some capacity - helping with Encore, Drama Club or coaching volleyball.
Mrs. Norton is the co-director of Drama Club and one of our middle school volleyball coaches. She has coached at Saint Andrew for over ten years.
Mrs. Norton is a teacher aide and runs our school lunchroom.
