The visual arts curriculum encompasses kindergarten through eighth grade. It includes hands on art making experiences that are aligned to the National standards for fine arts education. For example, students use of a wide variety of tools and multidimensional materials such as paint, clay and found objects. Students also have the opportunity to reflect on their work through discussion and/or personal evaluation. The curriculum also focuses on the incorporation of children’s literature. The visual arts curriculum is aligned to core class curriculum in order to enhance learning through art making that relates directly to history, science, math and language arts.
