Welcome to Saint Andrew

Welcome to Saint Andrew School

Hello Everybody!

I hope that you are enjoying summer as God's special gift to us!

Our Saint Andrew Summer Camps have been widely successful and hugely popular. It is hard to believe that our summer camp program started just a few years ago with a few offerings; today there seems to be a camp opportunity for everyone. Thank you for supporting Saint Andrew Summer!

We have received some Aspire Test results for a small population. The initial review from this small sampling indicates that most of our students tested well, as predicted. We will mail the results to your home when we receive and review all of the scores.

Saint Andrew  students love to participate in many of our sports programs. In an effort to maximize participation in a fair and equitable manner, Mr. Pope sent home a form indicating which sports your child/ren plan to participate in next school year. Please be sure that we receive this form asap or during the first week of the new school year. Planning a successful sports program that maximizes student participation requires a proactive approach. I have attached a copy of the form to the bottom of this note.

As announced at Contract Signing, all students who plan on participating in our Saint Andrew Sports Program must have a physical to be eligible for participation. Additionally, as required by Illinois law- all students new to Saint Andrew School (including ECE students) and all Kindergarten and 6th Grade students must be up to date and documented with regards to Health and Immunizations at the beginning of the new school year. Please schedule your doctor visits over the summer. For your convenience

As announced we have changed food vendors for our school lunch program. Thank you to FSP for their years of dedication to Saint Andrew. Welcome Healthy Kids Kitchen as our new provider! Please click the link at the bottom of this note to find directions on 'How To Order School Lunches Online'. The window to order school lunches for August/ September is July 10 through August 25. Healthy Kids Kitchen will have samplings of their delicious and nutritious lunches available at our Ice Cream Social on August 25.

Please save the date of August 25 for our Open House at 3:30pm to say hello to your child/ren teachers and for our Ice Cream Social welcome an welcome back at 4pm. We will be offering a reprise of our Used Uniform Sale at this year's Ice Cream Social.

We have been busy working at improving our space this summer and making some subtle changes to maximize our campus. Additionally, we have been working on a few hires and faculty assignments for next year. Our goal is to give each student a quality teacher who shares our values and philosophy in educating youth, Spirit- Study- Service!

We have received some inquiries regarding water quality in light of recent findings in the Chicago Public Schools. The Archdiocese Office of Catholic Schools is leading our initiative and we will be working with them regarding water testing.

The Saint Andrew Capital Campaign is making great progress! We recently reached 50% of our campaign goal of $2.25M! Our Capital Campaign Kickoff Celebration to the entire Saint Andrew Parish will be at Mass the weekend of July 16 and 17, where we will update you on our progress. Please contact Annie Sullivan at anniesullivan@saintandrewchicago.com, our campaign consultant, or Julie Richards at julierichards@saintandrewchicago.com with questions, to make your pledge or to volunteer. These are exciting times at Saint Andrew!

As summer moves on, please spend some time each day with your child/ren reading and working on basic math facts. Studies show that children do not retain what they have learned without practice. Our goal is to hit the ground running when school opens in August!

School opens for the 2016/2017 year on Monday, August 29 with a Pizza Lunch and 1pm dismissal for students in Grades 1 through 8. The first full day of school with lunch service and uniforms is Tuesday, August 30. Our ECE Program, including Kindergarten begins on September 6. The orientation schedule for all grades will be announced in the Principal's Update in August.

We have scrubbed our email list for 2015/2016 and have added all parents/ guardians listed in Option C for 2016/2017 as email addresses of record. If you require an additional email address please let us know and we will be happy to add them.

Wherever your vacation plans find you this summer please keep in touch by sending a photo of your child/ren in a Saint Andrew t-shirt in front of a notable site!

The most important lesson we teach throughout the year is rooted in students developing a personal relationship with God. Please keep Mass attendance with your children at the top of your to do list this summer. The lessons taught and leaned in faith are lessons for life.

Thanks for being part of this Blue Ribbon School! See you in August!
