Welcome to Saint Andrew

Welcome to Saint Andrew School

Hello Everybody!

October 2, 2015

Saint Andrew loves a party! Thank you to all those who attended last Saturday's Soiree and Scramble.  The day was picture perfect!  A special thank you to our organizers, generous sponsors and party hosts.  Thank you for your support!

Teachers have been reviewing Aims Web data regarding student strengths and weaknesses. These small research based assessments help to tailor student instruction and learning.

The deadline for all Physicals and Immunizations is fast approaching! Saint Andrew complies with the Illinois State Board of Education with regard to student and community health. If you receive a note or phone call regarding this very important requirement please work with us for a healthy Saint Andrew School.

Pies are back! Market Day is no longer in operation, but the Pie Sales are back. Pie Sales help to fund our 8th Grade Trip to Washington DC. More information on Pie Sales will be coming home soon. Top sellers will be planting a pie on my and Mrs. Casavechia's face!

Have you booked your child's haircut at Rock Candy Hair Salon? Saint Andrew week at Rock Candy begins this Saturday!  Schedule (or walk in) for a haircut between October 3rd and October 9th and Rock Candy will donate 40% of services back to Saint Andrew. This year, all proceeds from Community Events will help fund a new math curriculum for the 2016-2017 school year.

Picture Day is next week! October 7 for Grades K through 8, PreK MTW AM and Transitions MW, and October 8 for PreK WThF, Transitions TTh, PreK MTTh PM and JK AM and PM. Students may be out of uniform on October 7. It is always nice to see our students dressed up for this day. Boys must have collared shirt and girls must have their shoulders covered in class.

Spirit Wear is available on our website www.gosaintandrew.com on the Home page with a link to our provider 'Schoolbelles'. The Saint Andrew code 1383. Christmas is coming!

A flyer announcing 'Rainbows for all God's Children' went home in yesterday's back pack. 'Rainbows' is an excellent program for students who have suffered a loss due to death, divorce or separation. The group has a wide age range and meets weekly. The forms are due back to school on October 7.

A head's up about Parent Teacher Conference Week, October 19th to the 23rd. Teachers will be sending home information for your family sign ups. Friday, October 23 is a half day with a noon dismissal. A pizza lunch will be served to our families on October 23; order forms will be coming home soon.

Parapet Wall project is moving along. The work crew is finishing the east wall and will be moving to the south wall adjacent to the alley. Please proceed with extra caution when using our alley.

The start time for Saint Andrew Got Talent competition on Thursday October 8 has been changed from 6:30pm to 6pm due to a record number of entries! We love to see our students get up in front of a live audience and perform. Our students do indeed have talent!

Grand Parent/ Significant Senior Day is always one of the best days at Saint Andrew! We look forward to welcoming the wisdom of this great group back to school on Friday, October 9. Our students first friends will begin arriving with a welcome reception in our gymnasium at 11am. There will be no hot lunch on this day; students must pack a lunch for themselves and their Grandparents/ Significant Senior. An Early Release Permission Slip was sent home in yesterday's backpack and must be signed and returned for any students wishing to leave with their Grandparents/ SS at 2:30pm on October 9.

I hope today's Shop for Schools on Roscoe shoppers are having a great time! There has been so much great energy generated for this event. Shopping and Dining with friends is a great combination with the bonus of supporting our 8th Grade Trip to Washington DC!

Help us finish the job- attend Mass with your students every Sunday!

Thank you for being part of this Blue Ribbon School!  AA

PS How could I forget to mention this time honored Saint Andrew event? Our annual Book and Bake Sale will be held this Sunday from 8am until 1pm in our Gymnasium. Traci Mitchell will be discussing her book, 'The Belly Plan'. The event features 1000's of books, cupcake decorating, raffles, plus arts and crafts. Something for everyone!  Enjoy the weekend!  AA
