Thanksgiving is everybody's favorite holiday; the pleasure of family and friends is such a simple and beautiful thing. I hope that all of our families enjoyed this American Holiday! Advent is here- remember that He is the reason for the season!
Thank you for your overwhelming response to our Student Council Canned Food Drive! Once again we were able to stock the food shelves of Common Pantry, St. Mary of the Lake Pantry and the Lakeview Pantry.
Detective Hollendoner's presentation on internet safety and cell phones to our families and to our students was very well received! Technology has provided us with many good things, but it is ripe with problems for those wishing to do harm to children. Thanks to our School Board Middle School Committee for co-sponsoring the session.
Christmas Shopping Days, a time honored Saint Andrew tradition, will take place on December 15 and 16 in our Social Hall. Our students are always excited to look for bargains for those they love the most! A flyer went home in yesterday's backpack with information concerning donations and volunteers.
The Saint Andrew Basketball Season is underway! To insure a safe and fun season for everyone, we are looking for volunteers to help with security and safety on home game days. Thanks to Mr. Pope and our Sports Council for leading this initiative. Contact Mr. Pope for information on how you can help!
The calendar this year presents many challenges with Christmas being on a Sunday and Easter being a later than our normal break. With that said, a reminder that our last day of school before Christmas break is Thursday, December 22. We will end calendar year 2016 on a high note with our popular Christmas Concert on the same day we dismiss at 6;30pm in Saint Andrew Church. There will be no school on Friday, December 23; we will return from the Christmas break on Monday, January 9.
Have you noticed our elves in front of school this week? Our elves are helping us with our annual Giving Tree that benefits the students at St. Thomas of Canterbury School and St. Mary of the Lake School. Please help us by picking up the name of a student from our elves and make a purchase of gloves, hats, mittens or scarves. The giving spirit of Saint Andrew is alive and well!
Our deadline of December 7 for placing your wreath and poinsettia order is fast approaching. Order forms for wreath and poinsettias are available in the school office and were sent home in the backpack. Proceeds benefit our 8th Grade Trip to Washington DC.
Thank you for supporting our December Community Event at Crosby's Kitchen on November 21. Your support generated $385 towards our Social Studies Curriculum Fund. We appreciate your support for all of our Community Dinner/Lunch Events.
Please join us for 'Coffee with the Principal' on Thursday, December 8 at 8am in the Teacher's Lounge. This Coffee is an open forum to all Saint Andrew families. Coffee and communication- a great combination! After coffee feel free to join us for Mass at 9am to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Please help us finish the job by attending Sunday Mass with your child/ren! The values we teach are reinforced through your family participation at Mass.
Thank you for being part of this Blue Ribbon School! AA
